From There to Here...

There being Newbury, MA, last Saturday, a lovely day with Christina, Sarah and Alan--

to here, Panama, with the Gamboa gang.  We made it--yeah!!
An early breakfast watching hummingbirds flit and fight--

and Gwen eating peanut butter crackers before school.

Simon's log house.

The grown-ups get away for a fun tapas dinner in Casco Viejo.

Rachel and I loved this funky ladies' room in our restaurant

.

Back in Gamboa the wildlife abound:  Geoffrey's Tamarin monkeys who come every morning for bananas,

many colorful birds and the shy, quiet Agouti.

Here's the crowd watching me paint
the third side of the "Mudnut" (Gwen's and Mila's secret word) House with, what else, bats!

Farewell Feast!
Toby and I decided to  cook up a little dinner for some of the people who are so special and have been so helpful to us this summer --

Jersey talking to Toby, John Watkins and Andy.
Ned was part of the group along with Larry--they came in later.

,

Marian Posner who told us a few stories about her wonderful, wild school years in England,

the irrepressible Myles,

and there's Julie without whom the summer would have seemed empty indeed.

Recent Painting

Trying to finish enough stuff to put in galleries here before leaving for the winter....

side table,

wine rack - I like the curvy bottom against the geometric top,

little rocker,

and three animal stools.

The Fryeburg State Fair
Rumored to be the biggest fair in the Northeast--

we went on Sunday with Ned and Myles
who love this fair, especially all the animal exhibits.

So we started with the goats--

trouble, but so cute.

Snowflake--a delicate name for a big pig.

Cow patterns.

Cozy duos

of all kinds

of cattle.

Young kids

tending big animals.

The amazingly fast and focused dogs herding  packs of pliable sheep.

I'm really glad we went--we saw and learned tons. Thanks Myles and Ned!

Foss Mountain

It was warm and lovely  last weekend--so, with Julie and Andy, Bella and Julie's sister Jennie, we took a hike and a picnic dinner up Foss Mountain in nearby Eaton.

Foss Mountain is an easy climb, the summit is surrounded by blueberry fields and wide open so amazing views.  You can see Mt. Chocorua behind Toby's bent knee (this a photo taken by Julie on an earlier Foss Mtn. excursion with Toby and Jennie's dog who looks so much like Tulip).

Sunset and then dark--we cautiously made our way back to our cars.
