Dude Ranching

This past weekend we all went to a working ranch in the Santa Ynez mountains--a place for campers, RVs, and cottage renters like us.

There were many activities:  horseback riding, swimming, tennis, miniature golf, hiking, and good eating at their Stone Lodge.  And walking--the ranch is large!  Here we are getting a ride around to all the different areas.

And watching--horses at pasture,

as a family.

Then, on the way home, a delicious brunch right on the ocean in Santa Barbara.
Fun, fun weekend--especially special since it was Maddie's 7th birthday!

Mural-Finished--at last!

Toby suggested purple for the outer ring--posing here in his purple shirt.
And a huge thanks to Lou who fearlessly got this project started.

Kiddos Rejuvenate

Toby and I, struggling with the flu this weekend, had uplifting encounters with the grand kids:

Through photos sent by Rachel from Panama
where they'd been to the mountains with friends--

hiking,

swimming,

and horseback riding.
I just want to smile looking at these.

Then the M's:

Max--now I call him the "trustworthy one"--pointing out on the ride home from school yesterday that we were approaching Orchard Drive, his street, and oh, by the way, why don't you have your blinker on Taisie?
Oops!

And Maddie, at the In-N-Out Burger fundraiser at Edison Elementary on Tuesday, asking for Diet Coke:  Why Diet? I say, Coke would be better.  She skips off and then, a second later, skips back and asks "What's Coke?"
Obviously she's from a Diet Coke family.

Yup--Toby and I both feel better this morning.  Thanks kiddos!!

Lea's Visit

The Feinsteins were in town last week to visit Adam and his family.
We got some moments together...

with Toby, on a leisurely stroll in Griffith Park,

with extra cute granddaughter Greta Wren, book reading,

and with me cruising our favorite Magnolia Avenue with its zillions of second hand stores. Lea modeling, then buying, this nifty high-style jacket.
