Sunny Morning

Katie Harris came to visit over the weekend for a solace time--boyfriend away.
But we were all cheered up by Kula (Hawaiian for gold)--Katy's spunky young golden retriever who swims like a paddle boat and  delights in new adventures.

Tulip had the nerve to charge at Kula, who--perhaps--got too close to the kitchen area where I was cooking (thank you Tulip for defending me, if that's what you were doing).  Tulip ended up totally overtaken by Kula, on the floor, being growled at but not bitten.  End result though, was Tulip getting up sprier than ever, perhaps proud of herself for her audacity.

In our eyes
it's becoming a very cozy home.

A corner of my space (aka the dining room) before I totally disorganize it by moving all my painting supplies and projects in.

The reinvented living room--no longer chatting before the fire (we don't trust this chimney) but an incredibly comfy place for watching TV--this summer's newest installment.

And the chair I'm so proud of--combinations of fabric from collections over the years and paint to match.

A Weekend of Help
Tom came from Portland and the Eritreans came from Barrington to help us with end-of-the-season projects, like pulling in the raft and replanting the part of the driveway that's extended onto the lawn.

Mulling over the best method for bringing the raft in.

Victory!

And a victory dinner

of lobster.

Accumulation

In the beginning of the summer, this sweet little cup looked like this.

And now look at it.
I don't know how we did that--there are actually 4 toothbrushes in there plus many razors, and there are only 2 of us here!

Summer's End

Sigh--I'm sad to see summer go, although there's always hope for a warm, sunny September.  Here are some of this summer's moments:

 Cherries in a bowl,

Bubbles in the air,

Blueberries waiting to be put

into pancakes.

A goat's nose,

Shoes left on the granite step,

Buying too many tomatoes to eat,

That indefatigable spider always working on her web.
