Limited Editions

Yesterday Margot and I drove to Newton, Ma. to the gallery where I sell my painted furniture.

Limited Editions is an art in itself--full of fabulous things and great colors.

Apres La Deluge

The rain has stopped, the flooding is beginning to end, and now, finally---



Spring has come.




The daffodils and forsythia are out,




and the azalea about to bloom.





But it was the tough little snowdrops (planted a long time ago by Sam)
that once again, despite snow and cold and heavy rain, came up first.

Bailing out the Basement

As you might have heard, Rhode Island recently got a LOT of rain. Rivers crested over their banks and houses got inundated.

We've been relatively lucky. About 10 years ago
we filled and carried more than 100 buckets of water out of the basement (remember Sam and Rachel?).
So we had a sump pump installed and for the past week it's been working around the clock.


We sweep water into the sump pump



and wet vac the rest.

It's still coming in but I think (fingers crossed) that we've seen the worst of it.

House Cleaning is Over! (for the moment)

After too many days of major house cleaning (sorting through piles of papers accumulated over the years, paring down a huge assortment of books, tossing out old and ugly things that I wondered why I ever saved, and dusting, dusting, dusting), I've gotten back to painting.




Starting with small things, like little bowls with simple circles




that go with a series of creatures painted on lazy Susans.




And now starting on a large mirror with an interesting curly frame.

It's really, REALLY nice to be playing with color again.

Back in Barrington



We came back to freshly painted walls




and crisp white woodwork.


We brought with us snuffly colds and a great new dance. It goes like this:



"Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, go.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, go.




Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, stop!

Hold still !!!"

We don't dance this too often, but we love it
and we have Maddie and Max to thank for it (and Yo Gabba Gabba).

We're awed by her super stacking skills,




and thought the weekly mom/kid afternoon get-together a great idea--
busy, noisy, social and fun.



But best so far is the



sisterly




brotherly




holding of hands in the car!
