Super 70th!

This Monday I drove to Bangor, Maine, to visit Christina, Toby's sister, for two nights. She wined and dined me, provided great company, a good Netflix, a cozy living room to watch the rather depressing opening of the Republican convention (all those ladies in red dresses), but overcoming that with the fun of being together.

On Tuesday, we drove up north to Penbroke to have lunch with my very old and good friend Annie Wadsworth Moody.

She and her husband live way out beyond nowhere, it seemed, in an old, charming house close to the water.  Love these painted stair treads!

She and Christina made sure there was cake and a candle to blow out for my b'day.  Thanks guys!

Annie's house is full of photos.  I caught a glimpse of this one--taken when we were 5 years old, practicing for a recital of "The Dance of the Candy Canes."  You can easily see which one of us was the natural ballerina and has kept on dancing all these years.
